Katkalo V. S. School of Management, St. Petersburg State University: Major Results of it's First Nine Years

This article is devoted to the analysis of the evolution of the School of Mana¬gement, SPbSU from 1993 to 2001 relating to institutional changes in the national system of professional management education. The emphasis is on the impor¬tance of external assessment of the SOM’s progress by leading international business schools and global and Russian corporations for the long-term success of the School. The principles of faculty development and organizational and financial strategies for the SOM are formulated in conjunction with demands of competition in contemporary business education and the dynamics of the Russian economy.
