Issue 2, 2014Ivanova E. A. Corporate Codes of Ethics within Governance of the Russian Companies. A code of corporate ethics indirectly indicates that a company adheres to norms of sound business conduct. Even existence of such a soft management tool gives out a signal of the streamlined corporate governance and strong organizational culture. Over recent years, this widely accepted in the West element of corporate identity also became recognized in the Russian business practice. The present article is based on the comparative content analysis of ethical codes by domestic and multinational companies presented in Russia, as well as a series of the validating interviews with leading experts on business ethics. The research conducted in 2012–2013 was aimed at examining the level of penetration of ethical practices in Russia, finding out its feasibility as a management tool and defining the special characteristics of corporate codes of ethics and their systems of compliance.
