Baranov I. N., Sklyar T. M. People Behaviour at the Market of Health Services and the Prospects of Medical Insurance Development in St. Petersburg

This article presents a number of results from the research project «The role of health insurance organizations in the improvement of quality of medical care and provision of equal access to the health services (the case of St.-Petersburg)». Special attention to the investigation of people behaviour on the market of medi¬cal services in St.-Petersburg is explained by exact correspondence between organization of health insurance in the city and insurance model. The article estimates city population involvement into the system of health insurance, the degree of satisfaction with services provided by medical institutions, and consumer behaviour in case of non satisfaction with the performance of mandatory health insurance. Exploration of population behaviour in the market of health services in the framework of mandatory health insurance is of a special importance for evaluation of the viability of suggested reforms in the health care system.
